We … Read more This is a rare hand-colored antique print by Horto Van Houtteano. Such botanicals are sold at international auction houses. We purchased this chromolithograph in Paris on a recent trip. Horto Van Houtteano was a Belgian 19th century artist known for his works with botanicals. This image dates to c1850. It is numbered and has the artist's imprint on the right lower side of the image. This image is of the "Rose Capucine" blossom. The image has clarity and beauty, typical of the period. The yellow and red blossoms are in full bloom and they radiate a strong quality. They contrast beautifully with the dark green tones of the leaves. This chromolithograph is a former folio centerfold. It is quite special and will be further enhanced when matted and framed. It is excellent antique condition. The image is 12 by 9.5 inches in size and comes matted in a neutral tone 16 x 20 inch mat ready for a standard size frame. Please allow time for custom matting. See less
