A mother and child are seen walking down a path in a rural area, with a small village in the distance.

This aquatint etching is hand signed in pencil in the lower right. It is presented in a natural tan wood frame with a grey silk mat and a thin dark inner mat.

Lecomte was a student of his famous father, the painter Paul Lecomte Sr. (1842-1920). He studied at the Beaux-Arts in Paris. He often painted in both oils and watercolors with an Impressionist style He used soft, muted colors to create paintings that had a tranquil and peaceful quality. He painted landscapes, portraits, and seascapes. His subjects are commonly serene harbors, markets, and pastoral rural scenes, many in Brittany and Normandy. His paintings have exceeded $10,000 at auction. Lecomte also produced striking aquatint etchings resembling watercolor paintings in their appearance, of which this offering is an example. See less
