The top of the box is a piece of porcelain from an antique vase from the Ming or Ching (14th-19th Century) Dynasty. Many of the antique treasures in China were destroyed in the 1960s by the Red Guard during the Cultural Revolution. To bring these treasures back to life, boxes were made to fit the pieces of broken porcelain. By owning this box you own a piece of history. It is wonderful that even a small piece of these antique treasures can be enjoyed today. The copper box has intricate designs on each side. The bottom is smooth. See less
