A stunning example of a Japanese foiled cloisonne miniature brass perfume bottle or incense vase hand-painted with decorative flowers. The shimmer from this piece is derived from a technique known as ginbari. A technique whereby textured foil covers the body of the vase and is then covered with transparent or translucent enamel which creates a brilliant glowing effect. Please notice that this vase does not have a base/bottom since it was made to be stuffed with perfumed cotton and worn in bags, ropes or jackets.
This petite object was made in Japan during the early 20th century. Measurements: H: 5 cm, Diameter: 3 cm.
