A very nice example of the work done by Frank M Whiting. The mark is that of the Whiting Manufacturing Company of New York which was purchased by the world famous silver company, Gorhams, in 1924. This Lovely table piece was presumably made sometime between 1866 when the company was formed and 1924 when it was sold.
The item was probably used as a cigarette holder, but my late grandfather used it for toothpicks.
Maker's mark: Frank M. Whiting Sterling Patent Pending.
