A Swedish rustic yet sophisticated pine blanket chest is painted with Baroque polychrome cartouches and scrolling ornament in Prussian Blue, orange and cream, dated 1783. It would have been made to celebrate a wedding and filled with household linens as a wedding gift., The interior has a small lidded compartment built in at the left side. Nice original rustic hinges and hardware. Good overall antique condition, with small losses and wear to the paint, attractive patina showing age, missing lock mechanism inside the case. Clean interior.
