This is very large, measuring approximately 11.5 inches long and 7.5 inches wide, at the widest point. The brass cap is solidly intact and has a ring attached for hanging. This is in excellent condition. No cracks or color loss. This is not marked in any way so year produced is unknown. This is highly collectible and hard to find in this striking color and size.
Original Kugel ornaments were produced starting in 1848.The original Kugel was a large hollow ball ranging anywhere in size from 1" to 18". Kugel ornaments were first sold in the United States in 1880 by F.W. Woolworth. Antique kugel ornaments were all made with brass caps to cover the pontil hole that forms from the handblown glass.
