Stone Lithograph and Offset Lithograph combination print. Oversize exact recreation of a original 1930's Josephine Baker poster, which measures 72" by 55" only two hundred were made, we have sold them for as high as $3,200, not available anywhere else, most all of them went into a private library foundation and are not for sale. One is hanging in the house of a New York Times bestselling author, Tami Hoag, right next to an original 1930's Paul Colin poster for one of Josephone Baker's performances. Stone Lithography was printed by Master Printer Toby Michel who has worked with fine art stars like Jim Dine and Allen Jones.
I don't consider this a reproduction even thou it was done in the early 1990's for a 1930's film, as it was produced using printing techniques that were used in the 1930's when the original was printed. The poster is a true recreation and shows flaws such as tears and stains that were in the original copied.
When the original was produced in the 1920's or 30's it was produced as a two part panel. When this recreation was done in the 1980's they wanted to show every imperfection in the original they copied. Thus the seam where the original poster was put together shows and all the water stains and the tears, etc. The recreation we are selling is a complete one sheet. The original poster has sold for over $20,000.
Four clips in the corners were used in the photography so we would not use pins that would put holes in the corners.

Super rare and scarce, please don’t confuse this with the cheap reproductions that are out there. There is a one inch border around the poster that has the color bars needed for the offset lithographic printing.
