Description: (4) consecutive volumes (marked at base of title page: *, **, ***, ****), First editions, original publishers cloth hardboards, front board/spine cover gilt title/illustration, full gilt leaf edges, ornate endpapers, each volume has 30 board-like stiff pages with tipped in monochrome reproductions after drawings by Hendschel numbered 1-30 (120 plates in total), all plate-titles given at title page. Publisher: Lichtdruck von Martin Rommel & Cie., in Stuttgart / Verlag Von M. Hendschel, Frankfurt A. M. Publication dates: n.d. (circa 1880's) Dimensions: 13" x 10" x 1" each volume. Condition: Very good-good; 2.25" x 1" cloth tear at Vol. I spine heel front hinge of Vol. I, 1" cloth tear at Vol. III spine heel rear hinge, spine crown/heel bumped/rubbed, inner board exposed at corner tips, edges rubbed in sporadic areas, minor red surface discoloration on Vol. III front board, minor white discoloration on Vol. II mid spine area, cloth overall in great shape with light-moderate board scuffs, interior plates bright with minor age tone effect, interior board pages faintly darkened at edges (overall clean; few pages with minor handling wear/superficial surface spots, strong square spines with no evidence of interior weakness; gutters intact.
