Placed against the wall it has as many uses as the variety of things you can put in it, or it can make a particular statement in front of the sofa when used as a coffee table.
On the lid a thick mortised and tenoned frame is laid upon the two top boards to create two inset faux panels. The panels are painted a plain brown as are the sides. The front, painted about fifty years ago, has an abstract background in shades of green with five red-grounded panels bearing vases, flowers, trees and leaves. The lid lifts on magnificent iron strap hinges to reveal a deep storage well with a divider towards the right hand side. See less
