Striking vintage French Riviera–style rattan bar cart dating to circa 1950s, featuring an exceptionally sculptural design with oversized decorative wheels, gracefully curved handles, and distinctive looped rattan detailing throughout.
The upper serving compartment is surrounded by an openwork rattan gallery and retains its original woven/slatted surface. The large wheels feature radiating bamboo spokes and intricate looped accents, giving the piece an especially architectural and playful character. Wrapped rattan joints and natural variations in the bamboo highlight its handcrafted construction.
The warm honey-brown finish has developed an authentic vintage patina, with visible variations, age-related wear, surface marks, and darker areas consistent with its age and use. These characteristics contribute to the piece's vintage character rather than detract from it.
A highly decorative and functional statement piece, this cart would work beautifully as a bar cart, serving trolley, drinks trolley, or display piece in a coastal, tropical, British West Indies, French Riviera, or eclectic interior.. It is structurally sound, rolls well, and is a stunning piece.
