with its tormented shape, slightly bossed, this ceramic tobacco tobacco is an original production full of tone. Midcentury production of the Elchinger workshops, the room is enamelled with bright black on the outside and touches of energetic yellow for the handle, the typo and the interior. Its resolutely modern appearance will hit the interior decoration. We imagine this pretty ceramic as a storage box, malice or sweet words, or storage accessory.
The black and yellow Elchinger box is in good condition: fresh colors and pretty shape. It is signed in the stylus on the back, some traces of use are visible, friction of the enamel at the collar.
4.5 to 11cm in diameter, 10-13cm high.
"Ceramics Elchinger" is a family business installed in Soufflenheim in Alsace in 1834. Since that time, generations have followed one another and have offered a production as varied as before-guardist. Léon Elchinger (1871-1942) will mark the spirits by productions of artistic sandstones as well as magnificent Art Nouveau potteries then Art Deco, with magnificent colors and brilliance. Less known than the Chambost, Ruelland, Jouve and Capron, Fernand Elchinger (1911-1975) will be one of the major mid-century ceramists. We are fans of its productions free forms, "handkerchief" vases and especially contrast games between deep blacks and bright yellows, red or green!
