This Really is a Great Looking Antique American Blue Sponge Ware Decorated Stoneware Kitchen Mixing Bowl. Circa Very Late 19th Century - 1890s. It has Extensive Beautiful Blue Color Hand Decorated Spongeware Features that are Done in a Very Unusual Design - Style. It was most likely made in the Eastern Central Ohio Region. It is in Very Good Cosmetic - Strong - Sound - Perfectly Usable Condition - Displays Beautifully. It has No Cracks and No Basin Spoon Mixing Wear. It has a Few Imperfections - Chips and Bubble Flaw at the Exterior Mid Perimeter Beveled area but These are Absolutely Kiln Flaws That Would Have Occurred in the Making - Firing Process. This can be Confirmed by the Spots - Areas of White Glaze On and In the Chips. These and Other Types of Surface Flaws are a Quite Common Occurrence in The Kiln Firing Process with American Stoneware Items From This Era. Note that They Were Produced in Batches with Multiple Other Pieces at at The Same Time in Large Size Kilns. Back in the Day These Types of Stoneware Items were a Necessity in Most of Americas Farms and Household's and They were Made For Everyday - Utilitarian Use.
It Measures Overall Approx. 5 inches Tall x 10 3/4 inches Wide - Long at Top Rim.
