These pillars are an amazing examples of Sicilian folk art, they maybe were part of choral ensemble and now are antiques artworks for ornamental. The slightly scrolled design and the cheerful decorative motifs of these pillars make them perfect to be used to flank a bookshelf, to highlight a nich, to finish architraves, balustrades, balconies or simply to hang on the wall as a wooden sculpture both vertical and horizontal.
These hand painted pillars develop on the entire surface a carving with leafy curls and flowers sculpted in high relief can be used in many imaginative ways, you can also add a base to turn them into lamps or use them as a huge overdoors. Such lavish panelling building elements with multi-layered decoration were typical of South Italy interiors of the late 17th and early 18th centuries.
