Jadeite is the most beloved jewelry stone in all of China, of which imperial green is the most desired color. Purple, yellow, brown and gray are also colors of jadeite. The stone is found only in Burma, present day Myanmar. Jadeite are found as pebbles or stones in river beds and mined in underground caves. Appearing as an ordinary rock, its true colorful form cannot be seen until the rock is cut. Jade seems to be shrouded in mystery which makes it so desirable.
The snuff bottle represent here has a pretty lavender color with hints of grey, found in the area cut out as long neck cranes. The flattened rectangular shape's flat surfaces are decorated with carving of lotus leaves and a fish. The colors are even on the front and bacl. Beautiful bands of varying shades run down one side from the top to the base and the other side are carved with two tall crested cranes. The bottle is polished smooth. It is matched with a pink orange cap on a black disk. The opening and base are flat.
Lavender jade is very difficult to capture its true color without proper camera lenses. The first photo shows the truest color and the shades of lavender appear dark in the rest of the photos.
