American needlework sampler of silk floss on linen with a modest zig-zag border framing an uppercase letter alphabet, followed by a cursive alphabet, a lower case alphabet, and the numerals one thru nine. The makers name and birth date are given as: Seraphina Learned, born Sept. 30. 1805, preceded by a large upper case letters, A B C D. The lower third of the sampler is given over to a basket of flowers flanked by trailing strawberries. The work has an archival mount and framed in a gilt molding under UV filtering glass.
