Exquisitely painted on a shaped board that suggests its original placement in a shrine or on an altarpiece, this painting depicts the story of St Anthony who lived as a hermit in the desert many years.
Measures 11 1/2" x 14". The painting has darkened over the years. Its provenance is a mystery. However if you look hard enough you can make out a bird here and a wild boar there, his animal companions. 18th century.
