A lovely set of 3 vintage (possibly antique) ironstone platters made by Warwick China. White with a green patterned border, this set is heavy, durable and each piece has it's own character. Classic vintage ironstone dates back to the early 19th century. After researching the markings on the back of the platters, we believe this group dates to the early 1900's.
The markings on the back of the platters mention The Smith-Wadsworth Hardware Co. in Charlotte, NC and Albert Pick Co in Chicago, IL. Smith-Wadsworth Hardware Co. began business around 1920-1930, and Albert Pick Co. began their hotel business around the same time. This type of ironstone is frequently referred to as Restaurant Ware or Hotel Ware due to its durability.
The size of the oval platters are 15.25", 13.25'', and 7.125". They are great to use on an every day basis or would be lovely as a wall grouping.

- These 3 platters are in very good condition for their age. It is characteristic for ironstone to have some type … moreThese 3 platters are in very good condition for their age. It is characteristic for ironstone to have some type of irregularities including a slightly mishapened bowl or a slightly unlevel plate. That is not the case here. There are a few pit marks on each piece that are not eye-catching but that occured during production. See photos. The smallest platter has a chip on the underside of the rim that is about 1/2" long. It is not detected when looking at the face of the platter; again, please see photos. less
