It is Strong - Substantially Made out of Heavy Gauge Indigenous Wood Splint. Note that the Top Rim is Wrapped - Woven with a Strap of Some Type of Thick Leather or Hide Material. This Basket has been Used For Years and along the way has Developed that Wonderful Authentic Rustically Age,Use and Weathered Appearance - Patina that Cannot be Duplicated. It Still Retains its Original Braided Cotton Straps & Buckles. It is in Structurally Strong and Sound Condition as Well. It has a Few Areas of Basket Weave Loss on the Upper Right Side. It also Has a Hole - Bit of Basket Loss on The Back Side Lower Base Area - See Photographs. Backpack Baskets such as these have Been Produced for Many Years in Various Sizes - This one Being in the Small to Medium Size Category. Today they are Quite Often Hung - Displayed as Wall Decor.
