A striking iron figure from the Dogon people of Mali. A fascinating and ancient culture, the Dogon have one of the most intriguing origin stories known. Their carvings and figures are very symbolic, in this case an abstracted man points his hand toward the sky, likely a wish for rain.
This piece comes from an old French collection, collected in-situ circa 1965-1973.
