A set of four antique armchairs, handsomely carved with an acanthus flourish at the crests and at the centers of each front seat rail, the arms and turned tapered legs attractively carved with stop fluting. Seat bottoms reinforced with recent corner blocks underneath. Chairs are stamped “D,” two are also stamped illegibly with the maker’s name under the seat rails. French or Belgian. Attractively re-upholstered in a Japanese inspired floral woven fabric in very good condition. Second half of the 19th century or possibly earlier. Good antique condition over all, with light wear and normal signs of age.
