Venetian, Early 20th century.
An exceptional pair of antique Venetian armchairs with a red lacquer ground and heavily painted gold gilt chinoiserie decoration across surfaces. Each chair features figural warriors, pagoda cities and traditional geometric motifs.
Very unusual forms to each chair, wonderful scroll work, aged velvet arms, acanthus leaf trim to arms and cane seats.
