I have never cleaned it because I like the old look of it. A detailed carving of an Asian wise man. There are characters on his back (see photo ) and on the very bottom of the stand but I have not been able to translate them. I am told this was carved out of polymer how ever it is so heavy it feels like a stone carving. Thank you for looking , questions and offers are welcome. See less
