A beautiful antique circa early 1900s silver plated platter cover/dome from The Hotel de France in New York City! The Hotel de France was located at 142 W. 49th Street, originally built in 1901 as the The Van Cortlandt Hotel, the hotel changed, hands and names a couple times before reopening in 1918 as the Hotel de France. The hotel continued under this name until it was remodeled in 1931 and renamed the Van Cortlandt Hotel. In the 1970s the hotel was converted to apartments and became the Radio City Apartments. What a wonderful piece of New York City history!
In excellent condition, no dents or damage. A few light surface scratches and signs of age/use, but no major wear to the plating (mostly some thinning if the plating around the hotel name engraving). Measures approx. 16.5" long by 12.5" wide by 10" tall including handle, made to fit a 17” long oval platter.
