The fine art lithograph print is printed in France in 1949 by Les Editions Du Chene Paris, as part of a French portfolio of limited edition Gauguin lithograph prints titled " Gauguin Peintures ". The vintage Postimpressionist print features an artwork image originally created by Gauguin in 1901 titled " Soleils Dans Un Vase ( Sunflowers in a Vase ) ".

Eugene Henri Paul Gauguin ( 1848 - 1903 ) was a French born Postimpressionist artist. Unappreciated until after his death, Gauguin is now recognized for his experimental use of color and Synthetist style that were distinctly different from Impressionism. His work was influential to The French Avant-Garde, and many other artists such as Pablo Picasso and Henri Matisse. He is also well known for his relationship with Vincent and Theo Van Gogh.

Gauguin's art became popular after his death, partially from the efforts of the famous art dealer Ambroise Vollard, who organized exhibitions of his work late in his career and assisted in creating important posthumous exhibitions in Paris. Artworks by Gauguin are included in the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums.

The lithograph print plate image measures 8" W X 10" H, on a page that is 19 7/8" W X 14 3/4" H. The print is attached to the page with a method called " tipping " where it is attached by hand on the top edge. Behind the print plate on the page is the title, date and size of the original artwork.

The rare out of print limited edition French lithograph print is in excellent vintage condition consistent with age, light signs of handling, and light to moderate wear to the page backing.
