The Napoleon III gilt bronze inkwell is a prized find, crafted in circa 1840 France with intricate embellishments including a recessed scalloped shell body and mythical creatures along the foliate margents. The lid opens to reveal three circular vessels – two outer glass wells and a middle pounce pot. The pounce pot is made from bronze, with floral lobes on the concave lid and would have contained sand for aiding the ink in drying. Today, this highly refined Napoleon III Inkwell would serve as a decorative and functional statement piece on any desk. See less
