These are two pieces in a series of six, titled Las Rumbas en Plata (Las Rumbas in Silver). The artist tried to convey the vital energy and sensual feeling of the Rumba, an old Cuban musical genre's rhythm and dances. While working on these paintings she listened to the rumba played by old masters for inspiration. These pieces were featured in the 2nd Annual Festival of Caribbean Realities. The receipt shown is for one of the two pieces. They were both mounted together on wood. They are signed G Lomas on the bottom left corner and what appears to be 03 next to it.
Measures 29" wide and 14" tall, 3" deep. Each piece of the actual artwork is 10" tall and 11.5" wide.
This is a used/vintage piece. It is in very good condition though some wear and tear is expected with age and use. There is a small tear in the mounting as pictured which can easily be glued back together.
Renowned artist Gloria Lomas (aka Arturo Vazquez) was a talented artist that graduated from San Alejandro Academy of Fine Arts in Havana, Cuba. Lomas had a successful career in Miami and New York City in the 60's as an artist and designing jewelry for Robert Lee Morris in New York City.
