Handwoven in wool, circa 1950-1960, this 5x9 vintage Afghan tribal kilim rug in Burgundy, is an exciting new curation in the Rug & Kilim collection.
On the Design:
Keen eyes for detail will admire the striped pattern of the rug, which is reflective of signature Afghan designs. Striped pieces like this were often woven from several long, narrow pieces into one, due to the fact that the weavers had to work in smaller spaces. The usage of red, green, orange, and blue tones create a striking visual contrast. Its distinct geometric patterns and vibrant color palette make it a unique and visually captivating piece of Afghan heritage.
Condition:
This mid-century Afghan rug enjoys good condition for its age and origin. Furthermore, its promotional price is in support of the women of Afghanistan.
