A Scandinavian Modern cased glass vase crafted with an exterior in shades of turquoise blue and a crisp opal white interior. The iconic bottle-shaped Gulvvase (Danish for floor vase) is a mid-century design created by Otto Brauer (1911–1984) in 1962 for Kastrup Holmegaard Glassworks of Denmark. The sculptural example of Danish Modern design retains its original label which dates the vase circa 1970-1976. The round label reads: Kastrup Holmegaard / By Appointment H. M. The King of Denmark / Made In Denmark. The vase in in very good condition -- no chips or cracks -- measuring 12 in height x 4.63 in. diameter (at base) x 3.5 in. diameter (at rim).
Holmegaard glassworks was founded in 1825 by countess Henriette Danneskiold-Samsoe.
