It measures 18" in … Read more This superb skirt or apron is hand beaded with vibrant colors, depicting lines and diamond shapes. It measures 18" in width, and 8.5" in height. As early as 1961, the government of Cameroon mandated that women wear clothing that fully covers their bodies. Despite these regulations, some groups have continued to craft and wear ornate beaded caches sexes, a type of pubic apron, as a traditional form of clothing. For example, Matakam women living in the Mandara Mountains region of northern Cameroon craft pubic aprons made of iron strips, secured by a belt of fiber. See less
