This bowl weighs 19 pounds. It is 23 inches across. This would be beautiful and dramatic on a sideboard or in an entry foyer as it is or filled with your favorite orchids. I have been researching this item for days and it seems to me this is a fairly old vintage Chinese export piece.
The mark says “Da Qing Qianlong Nian Zhi” - which translates as "Great Qing Qianlong Period Make". The original piece would be from an era within the "Qing Dynasty (1644 to 1912) within which the Emperor Qianlong reigned from 1736-1795. This very nice quality export is most likely of the late 19th and early 20th century, pieces from that time frame had this type of stamped red seal mark. The colors are fabulous and it is in great condition with only a few little worn areas on the gold handles and one along the top edge, check photos. The inside is amazing too. When you look at my photos you will see some have a whiter tone and some have a warmer almost yellow tone. In real life this is pretty white, but the porcelain seems to photograph with a blueish tone in the outside natural light and with a warmer yellow tone under electric lights. See less
