Iconic Italian Modernist chaise lounge and ottoman designed in 1969 by Afra and Tobia Scarpa for Cassina as part of the "Soriana" series, which won the “Compasso d’Oro” prize in 1970.
Composed of boucle 'bundled' together at the edges to form purposeful creases and clamped in place by chromed-metal brackets.
The chaise is supported by the original two caster wheels to one side and block feet to the other, allowing it to be easily moved by a single person. (The ottoman is all caster wheels.)
Strikingly stylish, yet extremely comfortable with abundant curves, soft upholstery and lush foam and latex interior cushioning. Additionally, the ergonomically designed, generously proportioned back rest allows the chaise to to maintain a chic, low profile while still offering stability and support.
Expertly reupholstered in gray Kravet boucle fabric #36120-21. Chrome has been polished, and is in very good, vintage condition.
Early set retaining the Cassina manufacturer's tag to the chaise.
