Mercedes Robirosa, of Argentinean origin, was one of Yves Saint Laurent’s favorite models in the late 1960s and 1970s. After participating in the catwalks of famous couture houses, Mercedes Robirosa started a career in jewelry design. Between 1982 and 1986, Karl Lagerfeld hired her to design and manage the Chanel couture and ready-to-wear accessories collection. In 1987, Mercedes Robirosa launched her line of jewelry. Robirosa's sense of fashion and design comes through in her jewelry as an earthy elegance with a playful sense of whimsy.
