The sides … Read more A near pair of Chinese porcelain square vases, both with a white glazed exterior, interior and inset base. The sides of the left vase are decorated with finely drawn, polychrome, Chinese court figures with a Chinese poem, signed with one, red, seal mark, in black kaishu script above. The sides of the right vase are decorated with a finely drawn, polychrome, bird and flower landscapes with a shorter Chinese poem, signed with one, red, seal mark, in black caoshu script to the side. The right vase has a red, Yu Cen mark in Zhuanshu script, within a square, glazed to its inset base. The left vase has a red, six character, Xianfeng, reign mark glazed to its inset base. The matching, finely carved, traditional, Chinese, hongmu stands are included. Both wood stands have finely carved medallions of Fu bats flanking three lucky coins on each side. Circa Republic of China Era and earlier.

Yu Cen: The Jingdezhen painter, Liu Yu Cen, (1904 - 1969), given name, Yucheng, a member of the "Eight Friends of Zhushan" (a former imperial kiln site). The "Eight Friends" began meeting monthly in 1927 as "The Full Moon Group".

Xianfeng: 1850 - 1861, Emperor Wenzong of Qing, personal name, Yizhu, (1831 - 1861), the 8th Emperor of the Qing Dynasty and the last Chinese Emperor to exercise sole power.
