OH. MY. GOODNESS!!!!!!! I am in LOVE to say the least!!! Are you? Of COURSE, you are!! This is an INCREDIBLE pair of nightstands by iconic designer Raymond Loewy for Hill Rom comprised of aluminum frames with three bin style graduating drawers featuring walnut veneer sides and door fronts with aluminum pulls, and aluminum trim. The tops are laminate with a gray & white textured linen look surrounded by wood edges and the cabinet stands on tubular steel legs with casters and they have painted metal perforated backs with a metal bar. WOW!!! They are truly a marvelous sight to behold!!! They are going to be gorgeous on each side of your bed if you use them as nightstands. However, maybe you don’t need nightstands right now? No problem!! The versatility is mind-blowing, so you don’t have to limit these beauties to the bedroom! Maybe choose to use them as end tables in the living room… they would be wonderful! Or split them up and use them in separate rooms adorned with a sculpture or foliage, as bathroom storage cabinets, or in any room as side tables with nice sized drawers for linens, books, and everything in between. Possibilities are as endless as your imagination. High quality, versatility, and timeless style… these attractive nightstands have it all!!
Raymond Loewy, an iconic French American designer who was dubbed “the father of industrial design,” had many well-known projects; and over his career span he consulted with over two hundred companies, leaving his mark in the design world. Some of his most notable achievements include the popular Shell, Exxon, BP, and TWA logos; a Greyhound bus; an S-1 locomotive; the Lucky Strike cigarette package; the Coldspot refrigerator for Sears; the Avanti for Studebaker; plus, designs for Harley Davidson and Coca Cola. He also designed NASA Skylab, the Airforce One livery, and the John F. Kennedy memorial postage stamp, among other notable items. From products such as furniture to public transportation Raymond Loewy took pride in making what he called “the mundane side of the 20th Century more beautiful.” He worked for Mengel from 1950 to 1959. Notably Raymond Loewy was featured on the cover of TIME magazine in October 1949 and in 1975 the Smithsonian Institute opened “The Designs of Raymond Loewy,” a four-month exhibition dedicated to his life’s work and achievements. Mr. Loewy passed away in 1986.
Hill-Rom is an American medical technology provider and a wholly owned subsidiary of Baxter International. The company dates back to October in 1929 during the height of the Great Depression when William (Bill) A. Hillenbrand revolutionized the idea to “bring the home into the hospital” idea with warmer and more home-like furnishings. Mr. Hillenbrand gave hospitals a six month free trial period where he would furnish private rooms with his furnishings and at the end of the period he was swamped with orders for more. It was a huge success. In 2019, Hill-Rom rebranded itself as Hillrom and welcomed additional companies including Allen Medical, Liko, Mortara, Trumpf Medical, Voalte, Welch Allyn, Breathe Technologies and Excel Medical and work as one team. Today they continue a legacy of innovation.
