This is a really lovely marquetry inlaid handcrafted double frame for a desk, mantle or table top. The frame is inlaid with many different woods and was done by someone with a lot of talent in a pleasingly aesthetic design. The varnish used for the finish is showing its age, there is alligatoring, spots where it is gunked up and it has darkened. I love anything with a vintage aged look so I would never refinish it but it would not be difficult to make this piece look brand new.
The entire piece is 8 1/2 inches tall and the base is 13 1/2 inches wide and 1 3/8 inches deep, each frame is 5 1/4 inches tall by 4 1/4 inches wide and holds a picture that is 3 1/2 inches tall and 2 3/4 inches wide. It does not have glass or any photos in it presently.
