The scalloped and partially dentate, shelf rim is outlined in blue trim lines, and banded with blue and red, stylized peonies on curving, leafy vines. The rim design is repeated on the interior sides with finely detailed peonies and also on the exterior sides and the outer, inset ring of the base. The center is decorated with a finely drawn, five clawed dragon and a fenghuang amid stylized clouds, all in Wucai colors and bracketed with thin blue trim circles. A six character, horizontal, Xuande reign mark is glazed just below the lip on the exterior. The center, inset circle of the base is decorated with finely drawn, mandarin ducks swimming in a pond amid lotus plants with blooms, buds and leaves. The finely carved, traditional, Chinese, hongmu, plate stand is included. Circa Republic of China era, no later than mid century.
