The solid walnut hardwood frames … Read more Danish-American designer Jens Risom designed this vintage set of 4 model C-120 Mid-Century Modern Chairs. The solid walnut hardwood frames have beautiful lines and are very heavy. With fresh upholstery, these design classic chairs would be stunning in any home or office. The chairs were re-upholstered once in 1974.

Jens Risom is synonymous with the Mid-Century Modern design movement. Born in Denmark, he immigrated to the United States and helped launch the Hans Knoll Furniture company with Hans Knoll in 1942. In 1946 he started his own furniture line, Jens Risom Design, Inc.

While some of Risom's designs have been bought out by modern companies and are still in production, these modern C-120 model accent chairs are not, and thus rarely become available. The upholstered seats seem to float within the solid walnut frames with no evidence of fasteners visible. The sculpted arms, indeed every aspect of these chairs, evoke Jean Risom and Danish design aesthetic. The bottom of the legs have Risom's signature solid metal dome glides under the base of each chair leg. (pictured)

The seat is 18" off the ground and measures 19.25" wide and 18.5" deep. The upright seatback is 15" long. Leg base depth is 21.5". See less
