A compelling abstract etching by celebrated American artist Robert Sperry (1927–1998), best known for his pioneering work in studio ceramics. Signed and dated 1984 in pencil, this limited-edition work reveals Sperry’s sophisticated command of line, form, and texture beyond the clay medium. Bold triangular shapes intersect with expressive, inky textures in a monochrome palette that evokes both landscape and architecture. The result is a visually dynamic and deeply atmospheric composition, modernist in tone, yet grounded in Sperry’s hands-on, tactile sensibility. Editioned 14/50, signed in pencil at the lower right, and embossed with a triangle-shaped blind stamp.
Framing details: Float-mounted in a wood frame with natural finish on the sides. The front is faced with a metallic looking overlay showing intentional distress and scattered surface losses from age and use, adding character and reinforcing the piece’s vintage appeal.
