A settee comprised of two individual armchairs featuring one arm each—here we have the Modus system by Kristian Vedel for Søren Willadsen, 1963. Ultimate sophistication through simplicity, this unadorned but aesthetically robust design delights the eye and supports the body. Maximum optionality is preserved without sacrificing any comfort or functionality when the pair are placed abreast of one another. From a sublimely figured and extremely dense tropical timber frame hangs a light mesh which acts as the seat straps—supporting supple and elegantly tufted leather cushions, filled with goose down for pliability and comfort.
Set remains in excellent vintage condition ready for decades of enjoyment and use. Both examples are marked with original manufacturer’s export label. Set is available for viewing in Brooklyn, NY.
