This majolica glazed jug or pitcher is of a Pug Dog, made in Staffordshire, England, late 19th century.
These were made also in France and the United states.
The Pug wears a broad, red collar with a hanging identification tag. He has a pink interior and sharp teeth that form the mouth pouring spout.
His four paws are also molded quite distinctly. this dog is alert and almost menacing.
There are no markings, it is unattributed.
Very good antique condition, consistent with age and use.
There is a chip under one of the paws.
