Offered is a vintage Central American Huipil, a tunic like garment made from hand loomed pieces that are stitched together with hand embroidered detail. This one is a heavy red striped cotton with a vibrant colored needlepoint stitch embroidered detail.
Lengths of the huipil can vary from a short blouse like garment or long enough to reach the floor. The style of traditional huipils generally indicates the ethnicity and community of the wearer as each have their own methods of creating the fabric and decorations. Some huipils have intricate and meaningful designs. This piece is boxy and square cut, would look lovely hanging on a wood bar as a wall hanging, or could be cut and sewn into 2 large pillows or 4 smaller oblong pillows
Measures 28.5" long, 28" wide, arm opening 12" diameter, neck line 22" opening
