De Mesquita was … Read more Very rare steel rod armchair, designed by Arnold Bueno de Mesquita for Spurs furniture in the fifties. De Mesquita was one of the founders of the 'Goed Wonen' Foundation and magazine, which advised in modern style home furnishing. Quite heavy little armchair, remarkable comfortable - also for longer people - and delightful to look at. The chair in fact represents a graphic drawing line of the chairs' design.
Condition: frame inspected on broken weldings, all well restored. Upholstery and fabric: still good enough for use, but foam of the armrests is a bit hardened, seating feels fine. Fabric looks fine. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
