Each vase features a crisp and layered wood grain pattern in low relief. This style of linear decoration was part of the European Op-Art (optical art) movement; the lines create the effect of subtle movement in the overall design. Both vessels have a matte exterior and a glossy white glazed interior. Very good condition and fully marked underfoot with the Hutschenreuther Tirschenreuth Germany 1838 printed factory mark in green, a mark introduced in 1927 when the porcelain manufacturer Lorenz Hutschenreuther took over the Tirschenreuth porcelain factory. The taller cylindrical vase measures 5.75 in. height x 3.25 in. diameter. The double gourd shaped vase measures 4.88 in. height x 3.75 in. diameter (at widest point). See less
