*Guan Yu, also known as Guan Gong, was a renowned general and warrior during the late Eastern Han dynasty of China. He was a prominent figure in the historical novel "Romance of the Three Kingdoms," which is based on events that occurred during the Three Kingdoms period (220 to 280 AD). According to historical records and the novel, Guan Yu served under the warlord Liu Bei, who was one of the key figures during the Three Kingdoms era. At one point during his military career, Guan Yu was captured by the warlord Cao Cao, who was a rival of Liu Bei. Upon his capture, Cao Cao showed respect for Guan Yu's loyalty and martial prowess and treated him with honor and dignity. However, Guan Yu refused to surrender and submit to Cao Cao's rule. Instead, he remained true to his loyalty to Liu Bei, even while in captivity. Guan Yu's capture became a significant event in Chinese history and literature, symbolizing his unwavering loyalty and adherence to honor and righteousness. See less
