Seiko Kato Behr (Japanese, 1941-2010) Vintage Postmodernist Ceramic Striated Double Mouthed Ikebana Vase, Signed. In very good condition with wear consistent with age. Signed on the bottom.
Size: 9.5”W x 7.75”H x 6”D
Seiko Kato Behr was born in Osaka Japan, raised and educated in Tokyo, and completed her pottery studies under Japanese Master Potter Teruo Hara, and became a private student of Master Shino Artist, Kozo Kato (no relationship) in Tajimi, Japan.
Seiko’s focus had been to create container forms which provided attractive foundations for ikebana arrangements, while standing alone as sculptural pieces. She was inspired by the world around her in creating shapes that nature, architecture, and her environment supplied. Her original works of art have been featured in major exhibits in Tokyo and Nagoya Japan, the Smithsonian Institute, Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Philadelphia Flower Show, and the National Arboretum.
Seiko received an award in the Second Sogetsu International Container Competition in Tokyo in 1993 and shared top honors, taking the Judges’ Choice Award in the final competition in 1996. In 2007 she was featured in a one-man Exhibition of Sculptures, Installations, and Containers at The Academy Art Museum in Easton, Maryland.

Orders where Free Local Pickup or Seller Managed Local Delivery were selected:
- Upon inspection, If you decide not to move forward with the purchase, you or your agent must refuse the item at the time of pickup/delivery from the seller
- Once you have taken possession of the item, all sales are final
- International, cross-border returns may require different processes depending on the countries between which the item is shipping to/from, and the buyer is responsible and duties (if applicable, on cross-border orders).
- On approved returns, the buyer is responsible for the full cost of return packing and shipping.
Cancellations
- Prior to shipping or local pickup, buyers may cancel an order for any reason, with the exception of some Made-to-Order items, where supplies have been purchased or work begun on the item.

- Chairish Express In-Home deliveries are currently only offered for international cross-border shipments.

- Deliveries can take anywhere from 6 to 9 weeks to be delivered.
- Chairish Freight Delivery
- Delivered in a crate, to your front door.
