Panther attacking a Civet, by Barye. Made in two versions with slight differences. On one the front paw is raised and the tail is lashing upward, and on the other like this, both are in the Louver Museum. Barye the best-known of the French school of animal sculptors flooded at the subject for aspects of its manner, intelligence, and graceful bodies. This figure of the panther is signed to the base A L BARYE. Very good condition.
