This Gustav Klimt " 100 Drawings " rare vintage 1972 first edition offset lithograph print softcover Art Nouveau book is a very special and unique book to add to your library collection.
The vintage art book is published by Dover Publications Inc. New York, printed in The United States in 1972. It features a monograph survey of the Art Nouveau style drawing artworks of the artist Gustav Klimt, with compelling accompanied text introduction authored by art historian Alfred Werner.
Gustav Klimt ( 1862 - 1918 ) was an Austrian Symbolist painter and one of the most prominent members of The Vienna Secession Movement. Klimt was one of the most radical artists of The Twentieth Century. Through his intensely decorative and erotic style, he pushed the boundaries of traditional artistic convention, paving the way for Modernist of the future. Artworks by Klimt are included in the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums.
It has often been said that Klimt's drawings were perhaps his ultimate artistic achievement. While there are only about 200 completed paintings, the drawings number in the thousands. He himself considered them finished works, and often exhibited them alongside paintings. The drawings reveal above all the marriage of subtle grace and expressive dynamism that is the human body. This important volume reproduces 100 Klimt drawings from originals and other sources.
The rare out of print 1st edition art book measures 9 3/8" W X 12 1/4" H X 1/4" D, with 126 pages. It features 100 offset lithograph print illustrations, list of illustrations including titles, sources, and original size details.
It is in very good vintage condition consistent with age, use, light to moderate signs of handling and wear to the covers. There is some visible wear to the lower corner page edges. Please see photos for condition reference. It is now being offered here for an excellent price.
