This pair of wonderful vintage homespun pillow covers were found in northern Vermont. The freshly cleaned red, white, and a small accent of black makes a beautiful plaid. They are machine stitched with a little hand stitching on the side and button enclosures.

This comes from the archives of Deirdre Coughlin, founder of Phoebe’s Closet. She specializes in antique textiles and sold them to many New York City Designers including Ralph Lauren (that’s how I know her,) Charlotte Moss, Martha Stewart, and Schumacher, among many others.

- Although the plaid is the same on both covers, the homespun fibers are slightly different which is not unusual for … moreAlthough the plaid is the same on both covers, the homespun fibers are slightly different which is not unusual for these early pieces. They are in very good condition. There is one small hole that has been repaired where one of the buttons fastens on #1. Other than that, they are in very good and usable shape. Please note, although they are approximately the same size, the buttonholes run on the adjacent side from one cover to the other, as per the photos. less
