This particular design and construction is associated with Giles Grendy. We date this to the third quarter of the 18th century, about 1770. The smaller scale of this desk / bookcase is hard to find and easily placed. We love these desks/ chests/ cabinets because they store so many things well. The mirrored doors are nicely shaped and each has a pull out candle stand. The desk features many small drawers, cubby hole and a couple of hidden compartments. Pieces like this are useful and timeless. This has been cared for about 250 years. When first made mirrors were rare and very expensive. The mahogany was a fancy expensive import from the New World. At the moment originals can be less expensive than well modern reproductions. See less
